Taboo Carnival

Jorje from Momma Jorje is teaming up with Jennifer from Hybrid Rasta Mama to host a quarterly blog carnival. The topics will be wide and varied but focused on subjects that are typically not discussed in the natural parenting/mindful living world of bloggers. The carnival will take place on the last Tuesday of February, May, August, and November. Submissions will be due 5-7 days in advance.

The Taboo Carnival

Entering is easy…

To enter, write a new post on the selected theme and email your full text to hybridrastamama{at}hotmail{dot}com AND jorje{at}mommajorje{dot}com by 11:59 p.m. PST on the day of the deadline. A Google form will be available for you to add some additional information. You will then receive an email from us with a bit of code for the top and bottom of your post. On carnival day, the bottom code will be adjusted to include all the links to the participants’ posts.

We reserve the right to accept, decline or edit submissions. We will not accept posts that are written for the sole purpose of marketing or advertising or posts that are not in line with the principles of conscious parenting and mindful living. Previously published posts will not be accepted.

“I Miss My Life” Any parent will tell you that life after children is much, much different than life before children. As well it should be. Gone are the days of dropping everything, packing an overnight bag, and taking a girl’s trip to the City!

Responding to the Natural Parenting Community! There is often a lot of criticism of the natural parenting community both from those
parents outside of it’s perceived borders as well as those inside the community itself. We would like you to respond to the Natural Parenting Community.

I LOVE YOU BUT I DON’T ALWAYS LIKE YOU! Love does not mean you always like your child or his or her actions. November's Carnival was created to liberate you and to allow you to openly discuss the concept of love versus like. While this topic might seem rather broad, we'll offer some suggestions for post topics when the full call for submissions goes live.

PLAYING FAVORITES! In our society, it is simply expected that we love all of our children equally. The fact of the matter is, human beings cannot help but develop stronger feelings and attachments to certain people, places, and things. While we would like to think we control our emotions and preferences, sometimes it is just not possible. Playing favorites with the humans in our lives isn’t something to hide from necessarily. But we unfortunately do.

MY PARENTS FAILED ME (A LITTLE OR A LOT)

Let’s face it, when you are a parent there is always something you do or say to your children that you wish you had not. Most parents would agree that they try their best but continually struggle with that “one” thing. Ok, maybe two things. Three? Today, we are dragging some childhood memories to the surface. Yep – tough stuff here. We want you to dig deep and share the ways in which YOUR parent(s) or caregiver(s) failed at parenting. These failings can be rather small or they can be monumental. You choose. But we all know that we are not perfect parents and there is no way that we were all parented perfectly, either.
